Cathedral Beach Sunrise, Yosemite

On a Meetup trip a few years back, our group of shutterbugs spent a glorious few days shooting sunrise and sunset shots of Yosemite icons. The location here is Cathedral Beach, which is named for two rocky spires nearby- Cathedral Spires- which resemble the twin towers of a Gothic Cathedral. The beach is easy to miss as it is marked by a small sign and dirt road leading off the Yosemite Valley loop road. The difficulty of finding the spot makes it a less crowded option for swimming, picnics, etc. It was a fun shoot despite the early morning frigid temperatures. I love the abstract quality of the reflections of the trees on the shore and the branches in the water juxtaposed with El Capitan. Camera settings:

Camera Canon 5D
Lens Canon 16-35mm
ISO 100
Focal Length 35mm
Aperture f/16
Shutter Speed 0.5 sec
